Very nice work on the old Marlin. They dont make them anymore, and I am happy to see it back in its original glory.

Remember to do your sanding with the butt plate and grip cap on the stock, so as not to round off the edges of the wood.

Good luck with your Ted Williams project. Two fine guns saved from the hands of another Bubba.

Nice work, traditional lever guns need to be blued/color case steel and walnut.

Just out of curiosity I looked for genuine Marlin 336s on Gunbroker last night. Some are listed for $1000!!!

One great looking rescue project, and I applaud you for doing this to save the lever action.

OLD FOOTMAN, good work sir! I also highly recommend the 35-30. I had been unfamiliar with the cartridge until about 10 years ago, when I acquired one from a gentleman over on Paco's site. Mine is based on a 336 A that has been shortened to resemble an SC. I load all my 35-30 in nickel brass just to easily identify them. Good luck if you go that way.

I had the chance today to go to my friends range for some 25 and 50 yards shooting. Later when I have some more time I will take this rifle out to 100 yards. For hunting deer in the eastern hardwoods most of the time your shots are no more than 75 yards with many of them under 50 yards. I tried some 150 grain Remington Core-Lokt's at 25 and 50 yards and they all shot high. I tried some old Peters 170 grain Inner-Belt SP's at 25 and they were spot on. At 50 yards I tried one Peters 170 grain and it dropped right in. I have some hard to come by Federal 170 grain Nosler Partition SP's and I tried one round at 50 and it also was right there With these hits I knew I was good, looking forward to taking it out to 100 yards.

the only legit way to straighten out the pics wasn't flipping the photos, but the way you worked on them and how you show them to us today
Food is overrated. A nice rifle is way more important.

Your work is producing very nice specimen. Certain acts should send individuals straight to hades and these acts qualify. But, then life would be boring with out the uniqueness of certain folk.

Now you have a very nice Marlin 30-30 instead of a Questionable piece of Drunk Folk Art! I'm looking forward to seeing the Winchester 94 after you bring it back!

    Texas by God,

Thank you, I have already started on the Sears Ted Williams model 100 (post 64 Winchester 94). I have scrapped all the paint off the receiver, barrel, lever, magazine tube, and stock/forearm. This rifle was "used" and filthy on the inside. It's coming along nicely. I will post pics later on.

Hello there, well I am finished with the Sears Ted Williams model 100 (post 64 Winchester 94). This rifle had seen some use and the original owner did some filing on the front sight making it unusable for me. Since this front sight was just over .500", I ordered up some new sights from Midway USA (great company). I decided to install a Marbles red fiber optic sight which was oversized for the dovetail on this rifle. Had to spend some time hand filing to fit the dovetail and used I some aluminum black to make it look right. So it's time for some pics. Again I appreciate the comments on this post. Turned out to be a nice project.

I would be proud of those! They look new.
Back when, one could spot the black forend accent and know it was the Ted Williams. They were $100 when the Winchester 94 was $150.
You really did make silk out of sows ear.

Nice job,,, but don't stop now,,, if you gave those wood pieces a few more coats of Birchwoood Casey Tru Oil They might show some character that is hiding in there like mine did.

The 1894 CB with the sling on it had wood that was so bland it was an insult to Fence Post Grade Wood. Scraping the paint off it and about 6-8 coats of Tru Oil produced what you see here. All of that character was hiding beneath the paint (Marshield?) that Marlin used to put on their wood. The wood on the 1895 CB was definitely "Fence Post Grade" and nothing spectacular happened there.

Yours has enough grain showing that I would go for it.
