I went to a LGS today and would up leaving with this AA upper, 9 boxes of ammo and 5 mags. I've been and casting for loading rifle, shotgun and pistol ammo (and wildcats) 45+ years up to 45-70 and 45 Win mag. A few years ago I started powder coating for my pistols and am comfortable with the processes.

I've read quite a bit of info available on the .500 and I've read that powder coated bullets from the Lee 90991 mold (I get there are better this is not an issue here) can be used as cast without gas checks? If so initially that's my plan. Later on I'll likely get a sizing press unless the Star Sizer will work (otherwise suggestions?) for gas checks and better molds.

I wrote Lathesmith (a great guy) regarding a die and whether the star press will crimp gas checks, hopefully I'll have that covered but other suggestions are welcome.

So, my initial setup is:

RCBS Big Max.
Star Sizers

Later on as money frees up I'll setup my 550.

Lastly is anyone launching bullets lighter than the 440 grain Lee? Noe molds without GC and PC'd?
