490 RB in a CVA Optima

I tested out this boolit today. Yes it's poorly cast, but if flew just fine.

After the cold bore shot I put three through the same hole.

I use 50gr by weight of home made powder. Avg velocity was 1,076fps.

Groups opened up as I increased the charge but I think I was just getting a crusty barrel. I might have to bring some foaming bore cleaner next time.

I usually shoot a .495 RB out of my Knight Wolverine. Because of the fast twist I generally keep the powder charge below 60 grains (52 grains is the sweet spot for me). The higher the powder charge, the larger the groups.
Old enough to know better, young enough to do it anyway!

It's nice to see that it can be done. At just over 1k fps it should have enough power to kill a deer and it won't beat you up in practice.

It's nice to see load development in a zip gun. Most guys that shoot those things will just stuff 2 or 3 50 grain pellets down a 24 inch barrel and think they're accomplishing something. Good shooting and keep setting a good example.
