    .357 lever gun

Who makes a decent .357 lever action these days? One that’ll shoot cast boolits well?

BTW: brass frames are a non-starter for me.

I've had a Marlin CB, and have a Marlin carbine.
    I like 'em both.

I have a Winchester Model 94AE, chambered for the .357 Magnum. Mine is one of the cross bolt safety version guns.

It shoots okay, but it definitely prefers longer rounds to shorter ones. Quite often a RNFP .38 Special will just pop right out of the top when chambering, rarely does this happen with a book length (or longer) .357.

If I were looking for a .357 lever action today, I would be looking for one that was designed for a pistol length cartridge not a redesigned .30-30 length action. Winchester (or clone) Model 92 or Marlin Model 94.

I have no personal experience with any of the center fire Henry brand rifles.

I have a Cimmaron Arms replica of 1873 Winchester in .357 mag. Long octagon barrel. Beautiful wood. Case hardened receiver. Love it.

Very good results with 1894 Marlins and 1873 Uberti clones. Not a big fan of 1892 clone Rossi’s but they are much more affordable.

Henry big boy steel action is a good shooter. Feeds 38s well. Swc designs feed but not smooth. Mine is without the loading gate. They are made with the gate now.

Marlin M1894 carbine does well for me and gets a lot of use around the place here. No complaints./beagle

Marlin 1894 has dropped a lot of hogs and sheep for me.

The Rossi's might be a tad more fussy on boolit dimensions but once you figure out what they like to eat .......tough, accurate, handy little carbine

I really like a Henry Big Boy in .357. For the money, the Rossi 92 is a great value.

Rossi R92 gets my vote. Shoots .357 or .38 special equally well. Currently using 158 grain lead cast round nose flat points over 9 grains of 4227. It is more accurate than I am.

I have a Marlin 94 C with a 2x7 scope on it. I run the 200 grain RCBS flat point cast in it with the OAL setup to work in a 357 revolver a Smith 19, feeds well in the 94.

I really like my Marlin '94 C. I guess it's a '94CS tho since it is a newer one, 2018ish, with the safety.

Is there a bad one? Everyone seems to like theirs, including me, I have the Rossi.
