I have a friend who wants to know if any of you guys have used Rooster Jacket bullet lube? If you have would you give a little of your results?

I sometimes use it to lube paper patched rifle boolits, it works pretty well in that application. It works OK for low velocity pistol loads. Honestly, I think LLA works better for the pistol boolits.
It is similar to liquid floor wax in my opinion.
Do you resize before you apply or apply then resize and apply again.
Way back when, I shot Sillywett competitively, I used to shoot primarily cast bullets and used Rooster Red as a bore coat to condition the bore prior to taking my sighters. I have also used it on paper-patched bullets with good results. I confess that I never used it as a solo lube for bullets though.
Old enough to know better, young enough to do it anyway!

Years ago when I was in the commercial reloading business I used Johnson Glo-Coat floor wax for bulk lubing .38 Special wadcutters for training and practice ammo Rooster Jacket is similar. Fine for low velocity loads below 850 fps. Low smoke on indoor ranges. Not suited for heavier loads.
The ENEMY is listening.
HE wants to know what YOU know.
Keep it to yourself.
I used it on high volume match ammo that I wanted to minimize touch time on. I had excellent results in .45 ACP (USPSA Major) and so so results in .38 Special (ICORE power factor).
The .45s had no leading at all with hundreds fired between cleanings.
The .38s had lead streaks after every match or practice session that required the Lewis Lead Remover or Chore Boy. Never saw a decrease in accuracy though.
Application was swirled on, 2 coats. Boolits were loaded as cast.
I no longer use it. I run .45s through a lubrisizer with FWFL due to the installation of a KART barrel and the .38s get loaded as cast with LLA/JPW, which eliminated leading.

What is the mixture for LLA, Im new at casting
There are a bunch of recipes in the lube sub forum. Ben’s Liquid Lube is very popular. There are also formulas using Johnson’s paste wax.

Think i can use rooster jacket to mix with alox
Maybe. Rooster is a water base I think. Might not mix.

They mixed waiting for it to dry. Thanks mister
Mixing did not work stayed tacky trying straight Rooster Jacket.
I tried some Rooster Jacket about 15 years ago. It smelled like floor wax.
I lubed several hundred 38 bullets to use for a Cowboy shoot. The lube started to build up on my seating stem, I had to keep it loose so I could keep turning it out to keep from getting deep seats on the bullets. Every 100 bullets or so, I took the die apart to clean it and started back over. That was the last time I had anything to do with Rooster Jacket.
If you are going to use it, I would suggest applying it very sparingly. Then pour your bullets onto some wax paper and set it in the sun to dry for a few days.
I sell a lube that is almost the same as Lee's Liquid Alox(LLA) We get it in 55 gal drums, adjust the consistency to about what Lee's is and call it Liquid Xlox. We also mix 45-45-10 and have it in 16 and 32 oz bottles.
In my opinion, the 45-45-10 is a much better lube. Again, use very sparingly and enjoy good results.
The 45-45-10 is a mixture of LLA and Johnson's Paste Wax with a little Mineral Spirits added to thin it out and help it cover better. 45-45-10 is the ratio of ingredients, 45% LLA - 45% JPW - 10% Mineral Spirits.
Let me know if there is anything I can help with.
Glenn.

I never had build up with Rooster Jacket and I never had drying problems with LLA.
It is always a wonder to me that competent casters get such disparate results using the same stuff in apparently the same way.
I will gladly endorse White Label if you decide to upgrade from Rooster. Great products and they are a pleasure to deal with.

Has anyone used Carnauba Plus. It's a car polish by Meguiars instead of Johnson's floor wax.
Trying to get Alox to dry. Would baby power hurt anything.
