    Speer Hot-Cor 170gr 2283 in 8x57

I just bought a box of these from Midway for my Russian capture K98k. Downloaded the Speer data, and I have both IMR 4064 and 3031. Anyone play with this bullet and have a preference? The rifle loves Lyman 323190 bullets and 14gr of Unique, but I want some full power loads to try to take a buck with it this Fall. Thanks for any help.

I always liked 4064 for my full tilt 8mm loads.
That Speer bullet in the right place will kill any deer. I used the 150gr Hot Cor successfully on Mule deer and Whitetail. Loaded to 2900 fps, they just work.

Most of my Mauser 98's like the heavier bullets for considerable distance.
Most of them like a 170 gr bullet.
But the 150 does fine and is plenty of power to take deer.
    I also prefer 4064 or 4895

I've used the 150 gr. Hot Core on 4 Whitetail. I wanted a heavier bullet but, that was all I could find at the time. Worked pretty good but, won't exit unless a behind shoulder/ribs shot.
