Shhhh! Don’t tell anybody. I went dumpster diving at the….

    Grand, about a month ago.

    I scouted it out first:

    That was on a Friday.

Then I went back on Monday to discover this:

    I was prepared.

    I brought a scoop shovel:

And it just so happened that my ‘Stang was in the shop, so I had a rental:

I have to sort through these boxes:

So that first pic was on the first Friday of the Grand.

Now, whether that was the very first roll off they had….I have no idea.

But I came back the following Monday at Oh Dark Thirty to discover that they had filled the dumpster to the brim over the weekend:

    I was prepared.

I had gone to Home Depot and bought a few of each size moving box they had.

I also used my scoop shovel:

And as luck would have it, my Mustang was in the shop, so I had a rental:

So I could get more of the bigger boxes in that rental.

Of special note, pay attention to that sticker on the dumpster just above the roof of the car.

I got my Mustang out of the shop and went back a third time…with just the small moving boxes:

I made it a point to snap a pic of that dumpster before I left:

Notice the difference in the stickers on the dumpster?

So I am guessing that had to be the fourth dumpster they had out there….at least.

The first 3 were hauled to some landfill.

What I ended up bringing home was this:

Soooo….every now and then when I have free time, I will dig out the:

    Remington Nitro’s (gold)
    Remington STS’s ( dark green)
    Remington Gun Clubs (medium green)
    Winchester AAHS’s (reds)
    Winchester AAHS’s (grays)

And the almost clear Fiocchi hulls because I figured they would be good for buckshot loads. I can actually see the size of the shot inside them.

That's cool. I hope you find them all useable.

It reminds me of my father in law.
One day, he came home with about 12-15 free commercial size cases of old school tractor feed printer machine paper.
They made a stack in the garage about the size of a refrigerator.
Only thing was-- tractor feed printers had been obsolete for several years.
But everybody in the family had an unlimited supply of paper for the kids to draw on or to make note pads.

OK People. Enough of this idle chit-chat.

Once a clothing store caught fire. They threw away everything that had gotten wet. I found some some really nice things in my size and style.

That's amazing. I guess the local shooting club did some cleanup.

It was the Amateur Trapshooting Association’s world championship known as the Grand American.

For the longest time it was held in Vandalia, OH.

Then in 2005 or 2006, it was moved to the World Shooting a Recreation Complex in Sparta, IL.

To give you an idea of how many birds are thrown (how many shotgun shells are expended there, I took this pic:

I can't believe they let you cart off all those hulls! Don't they usually sell the empties to vendors like BPI and Precision Reloading?

Please keep this a discussion thread and do not make offers to buy any of the stash.

Nice haul, why don't they offer them to locals for a nominal fee before hauling to the dump? I'm afraid I'd be backing my truck up and filling the box to the brim if I found a dumpster full.
