If the quality would be the same as the originals and the price was right, I would take a .250 and a .358.

It must be of the same quality as the originals and I want the Savage cartridge chamberings like .250 Savage and .300 Savage.

I’ve never been enamored of the 99’s although I’ve got one in TD 303 Savage, again price and availability would both be issues, especially availability as I’ve been waiting almost a year for a Ruger made Marlin…yup, Marlin and Winchester 1886 repros I just love but I’ve got a couple of buds that would give their eye teeth for another 99.

Scale it down a bit and chamber it in .223 with a rotary 8 shot magazine and 20" barrel.
Or neck up the .300 to .35- voila- .350 Savage!

I'm 62 and for some reason the Savage 99 has never particularly drawn me to it but neither am i opposed to owning one. I guess it's because Western movies have influenced my expectations of what a lver action rifle should look like. But if the model 99 ere to come back in something like the old 300 Savage and with normal wood stocks and blued steel I might get excited about it. Chamber it in 243 or 308 and I would have zero interest in it. Also if they paint it, use laminated wood, add picatinny rails, bluetooth technology, AR forearms, etc. I wouldn't be seen even touching one in a gun shop.

I cringe when a gun goes over 4 figures.....but that is where it's all going. I don't see me dropping the funds for a new one, if they were to go into production again, but for the right price, I'd snatch up a "grey rat" project rifle! I'm cheap, and I like to tinker.

If (big IF here) I was still able to slip through the timber still hunting deer, MAYBE. Since I'm not able to do that anymore, probably not.

But since we're talking wish list, I would like a new one to have the old style rotary magazine and an easily operated safety.

I could never afford one made today. 2K for a 45/70 Rarlin, the 99 will hit at least 3500 to 4K
