    The Queen has passed away

Queen Elizabeth II dead at 96 after 70 years on the throne.
She was just 25yo when she became The Queen.
She led the country through all the ups and down through the years.
    I liked her.
    She had class.
Something greatly lacking by politicians in this country.
    God save the Queen.

I got an email from a friend saying she didn’t believe the queen was dead. What’s the surprise? She was 96. I wouldn’t mind reaching that age.

Was very shocked when I saw on the news. Had been working outside on some of my lawn equipment most of the day. God bless her. Frank

I find myself greatly saddened by the passing of the Queen, as far back as I can remember, she's always been there, always out front, dignified, proper, she was no primadonna by any means. She's like a distant Mother to millions of us who grew up in her reign. She was a real and genuine leader with a good heart and even purer sense of purpose. Her legacy will forever define by example the word "leader."

Saddened by the news as well . . . .
She lived her life with grace and dignity . . . . .
She took seriously her role and the importance of serving her country and its citizens . . . .
She knew that to get respect, you must give respect . . .
Certainly not easy to assume her position when she was called on to do so and still have a personal life . ..
Loved and respected by so many . . . .
    May she rest in peace . . . .

It's sad that she died but that has little to do with us,we are not part of the British Empire. Now for the next 10 days It's going to be QE II 24/7 on the news and everywhere. I felt the same way when Sen Kennedy died he's dead that's sad now get over it and back to life as we know it.

I can handle the Queen, beats the CRAP out of seeing/hearing our divider in chief or any of the other 'tards in the news!

...honestly, I don't have time for either, the old queen or the new queen.

My mother was English and had the same birthday. When the queen and Charles came to San Antonio many years ago my mother was their guide.

It's hard to imagine the Queen having a private life, but she sort of did.
She made several unofficial visits to the US unannounced, and as a private citizen.
Some of them were to inspect and buy fancy pedigree horses.

I like that time when the press was dissing her for hunting pheasants- so she put a pheasant feather in her hat for church that Sunday.
She acted like a Queen should, may she rest in peace.

I could care less about British Royalty.
That said, I think Queen Elisabeth was a pretty class act in comparison to most celebrities.
I guess we will see how King Charles does in comparison.
    I do wish him well.

I could tell a little story about when the Kings word was Law, but I don't want to get banned.
I've never tried to Google it, but I think the title was, "Twas in the days of King Arthur".

Another of the Greatest Generation gone. She volunteered at 16 and rose to Captain. W. Churchill was her first Prime Minister. Pure class all the way. Say what you will about the Royals, they all have a strong sense of duty all all serve.

Well, it was sad and it was newsworthy, but it didn't cause life as I know it to interrupted.
Senator Kennedy on the other hand... Call me what you want, I'd have been happier if he had died younger.

I will never understand the fascination that people have with British royalty.
Our nation fought a long bloody war to be free of the concept that some inbred offspring of a ruthless tyrant had some God given right to rule over millions just because of their supposedly special bloodline.

Hope this don’t get me a ban, I’m just sharing what I got. The DNA chain was pretty short in the monarchy though.

Really not sure about the disdain here for someone that lived a life well spent. The Queen volunteered to serve during Britain's darkest days at 16 and rose to the rank of Captain then deported herself as a symbol of a country when she could have done anything.

If nothing else raise a glass to another of our greatest generation gone.

As an Australian and a Monarchist I should be offended by that, but I am not. While she was true to her words of giving a life of service to the Commonwealth, I can not argue with your assumption, as I too feel that way myself. I will however say that non of this reflects in any way on her Honour and Integrity. While America did fight a war to be free of British rule, yet so many Americans thought highly of the Queen and I feel this says a lot for our American mates and how they admire dedication to duty and integrity where ever they may find it. Regards Stephen
