Sorry forgot to add. Lee 55gr PC GC should out of a .223 @40yd loaded down to right at 1400fps. 20bhn allow so punched right through both without being captured

I guess it would be safe to say it penetrates well without expansion.

What is your planned use for that load? If for pelts it would do minimal damage I would think.

they are like and Eveready battery, keep on truckin
hard to see what you see in the pics but from past experience they should work famously

They say the boolits are not acting like fragile hollow point 22LR Stingers. They are akin to a slow FMJ. If you shoot varmints with them they will die, but it may not be a DRT effect. More like run to their hole up or back up the tree to expire.

How satisfied you will be with these as is depends on what you are wanting to achieve.

If you are looking for expansion 20 bhn is too hard. If you increase the velocity at somewhere around 2000fps you will begin to experience fragmentation primary with a side effect of a loss of penetration.

I would rethink your choices if you are planning on using this combination for hunting as you will likely be facing situations where your game animal suffers a mortal wound but escapes the area and is unrecoverable, dying a slow death in an unknown location.

I have that mold and use it in my Hornet as well as a T/C Contender in .222 but my hardness is around 10 and the MV is around 1700. It is a pelt saver but seems to impart more energy on the target at impact for fewer losses/cripples.

Seems like, if I recall correctly, you wanted a bushy tail getter, that will do, just like a 22 LR 40 grain solid. With little meat damage.

If that's the case it would have been helpful to know ahead of time. I never considered a .223 Rem as a squirrel gun but if it's not against the hunting regs there's nothing to stop it. For instance in my home state of Missouri it's illegal to hunt squirrels during firearms deer season with anything but a .22lr or a shotgun with #6 or smaller shot.

Honestly these where just left overs from a project where I needed a hard bullet.still have a bunch sorted and all so figured I'm make some Haller loads with them so I could shoot in my yard..deal is they grouped pretty dang good and figured I just jaut this load on small game and maybe to brain some hogs. Honestly with most of the shots I take on alot of game expansion is .....meh
Was just curious about what the terminals looked like.
You know everyone says stuff but you can be surprised alot with a testing lol
Fire is practically worthless down here thogh I really don't like just making a huge mess of blood and guts ya know

Put a third jug in line, but with frozen water to catch your bullet. It won't expand in the ice but the stopped bullet will show if it expanded in the water.
Here we can hunt squirrels with big game rifles if we want. I once took a couple with a .50 caliber muzzleloader. A .17HMR tears them up worse than a half inch ball.

It plows right through them water bottles without any expansion. I guess you can call that round a Juggernaut!
