    Winchester Model 1885 In 25-35

I found this 1885 in an auction site and had to get it. It has a bunch of stuff going for it, but I am a fan of 25-35.

All the features letter and the gun is in great shape. I hope to be shooting deer or antelope this fall with it.

That’s one sweet rifle. I really like the 1885. My son has a Browning high wall in 30/06 that he took to South Africa on a plains game hunt. He said everybody in camp wanted to check it out. Congratulations on the purchase.

Great find! Love the chambering, the rear sight, and the trigger.

Looking forward to an article from you and Mike.

Very nice and a takedown barrel!!!!!! I have three originals. I have three originals but no takedowns. I have been looking one for a long time but never found one of a realistic price.

Chambered in 25-35, deluxe stock, CCDSTs, take down, what's not to love???

Nearly 30 years ago I got a cobbled together thick side, take down action with a light weight 25-35 barrel screwed in (no TD collar) and the second ugliest stock I've ever seen on a high wall. It did have a SST and the lever was put together to resemble the ones on Mod 92 Winchesters. In short, a total mess! I bought a barrel collar from that guy in TN that sold Win parts back then and ultimately added a pistol grip DST tang (wide spaced, recreated by Ben Rice) a schuetzen stock, fancy lever, etc. Oh yeah, it's got a 32-40 barrel now and a back up in 45-70. Virtually nothing about it is original, but it's mine!

Almost as nice as my own 25/35!

Not sure of the original twist but mine has a 1:10"ROT and shoots 100gn RCBS cast boolits really well.

Always wanted a Martini but the US market was flooded with Khyber Pass fakes. The better done fakes are hard to spot until you disassemble them. If I could find a real one at a fair price I would jump on it.

    Cool

    Don't do it!!!
^^^^^NOOOO!^^^^^ There is not enough difference to really matter, and they don’t make these anymore! Once it’s done there is no turning back! Respect the rifle and leave it as intended, please. 🙏

But bottom line - you own it. I just hope you leave it as-is.
