Something a little different, this time. A couple of Lee items in my recent "larger deal" included the little 4" x 6" Lee catalogs of the time, in near-mint shape, probably been in the box undisturbed for 40 years or so. In case anybody here has book collector tendencies, or is interested in a bit of Lee history, or just likes this stuff, I have 2 to offer:
Here's front & back of #1, near mint, the fold/binding is stiff, as if it's never been opened flat, corners not bent, everything I think the booksellers call "fine" except the paper is just beginning to brown a bit, now that some air has gotten to it. On the bottom of the back page it says "Lee Custom Engineering, Hartford, WI 53027", but -- as you can see in the pic -- that's a sticker applied over printing (which, no, you can't see in the pic ) that says "Lee Precision, Inc., Hartford, WI 53027", so this catalog must date from just after one of the Lee ownership transitions that took place way back when.
As for history, do you remember that Lee used to offer hollow point bullet molds? Here they are, in the catalog of the day. Also, a table by caliber of Lee loaders, case trimmers, and screw-in shell holders for that one-hand aluminum priming tool.
Here's front & back of #2, near mint, etc. -- pretty much the same condition as #1 except the paper is not even starting to brown, and this one is bent/rounded from living in the box with a Lee mold for 40 years or so. (That's why the pics are a bit twisty, I'm trying not to unbend this more than necessary.) At the bottom of the back cover it says "Lee Custom Engineering, Hartford, WI 53027", but printed directly on the paper this time, so I figure this catalog was a bit later than #1 above, hence I'm calling it "#2".
Another bit of history: 3rd pic is a listing for the Lee hand-powered bullet sizing die. Every once in a while CastBoolits gets a new thread, with a pic, asking "what's this tool?". Well, there it is in the Lee catalog.
I would like to sell this lot as a "100% to site" auction, which means that the high bidder donates 100% of their bid amount to Castboolits (per the donation link above), after which I will send them the items. I will pay shipping.
Happy to say, both US and non-US bidders welcome on this one.
The auction will run through Labor Day weekend, until 9:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, September 6th.
Do I hear $1.00?
