    7.62x54R and Steel powder loads

Anyone have experience using Steel powder for reduced loads in 7.62x54R or similar cartridge? I know 2400 and Reloader7 are popular for such loads. Steel is slower than 2400, faster than Re7. Any suggestions. I have a lot of Steel powder available.

Wow, no one has ever attempted to use Steel in any cartridge for CB loads.

Probably too new for much real time tests, especially with the drought as it's been. I've not seen any in 2 years.

I guess I'll give it a try in the near future when I have time to set up the chrony. I will post results.

I got to try one load but didn't have time to chronograph. I used 14 grians and jword surplus 148 gr. in my M-39. Set my sights at 400 shooting at 50yds. Very mild and just hit the bottom of my target.
Accomplished finding a safe starting point but not much else. I plan to load some rounds and ladder up, monitoring the chrony. I'll use 170 gr cast .311's I have. When my work schedule cooperates. Hopefully before the snow flies.
