    Tula primers

    Hello all,
Need some input on the Russian Tula primers. A buddy of mine has come across a quantity of these at a decent price and wanted me to go in with him and buy them all. I've never used them, but have read comments from those that have used them saying "wonderful product" to "what a waste of money."

I would welcome any advice from anyone that has used them.

    Thanks, Steve

I have ever used many thousands of them and Wolf brand in handguns. They go bang. I recently had one load in .44 mag that was significantly tighter grouping with CCI 300 than with Wolf. That said, in these times, I would be on them like a duck on a June bug.

I’ve used them and they seem to be OK. Make sure they are already in the US. The sanctions on Russia may keep you from importing them.

I've used quite a few Wolf & Tula SRM primers in service rifle competition. They're very good.

I've never tested them over a chrono, but guys I know have said they are more consistent than US-made primers. Never had one fail, and they're plenty good enough for the way I shoot!

Best part is, I got them dirt cheap 10 or 15 years ago...

Might want to ask over at https://www.usrifleteams.com/forums/

Lots of love and lots of hate for them. I purchased 20K of the small rifle mag. They have all be used. If they were still available I would buy more. Most of the hate is based on not understanding the differences between them and US. Most importantly the anvil are flush so the primer cup needs to be fully seated for reliable ignition. On US primers the anvil is proud so fully seating is not as important. Second the stand verse mag. is cup thickness not hotness.

    I wish I had purchased 100K not 20K.

Another "fool" who bought 10's of thousands of that Russian crap. Some as cheap as $16/k IIRC.

Don't buy them. Let me know where they are in KY and how many. It might be worth the drive.

I have used the L rifle primers with no problems, just finishing up on the last of them.
I have like one and a half sleeves left, should have gotten more, then I'll go back to the CCI's.
    Buy 'em.

Do you know what sizes they are, and what you are going to shoot them in? I have shot many thousands of their Berdan and shotgun primers with no problems, and I will soon be shooting their small rifle magnum in .223.

I'm using SRP's in a 17HH instead of CCI bench rest and getting comparable accuracy from them. Sub 1/2 inch groups at 100 yds from the bench. No ignition problems with Littl Gun or CFE Blk. I too, wish I had bought more then the 1000 I did.

    I appreciate all the responses.

Unfortunately, the primers didn't really exist. The person who posted the primers for sale wanted to be paid by Zelle before he would even meet, give a real location, or send a picture of the primers. Other posts warn that this is a scam and monies have been paid but nothing was ever received. Local law enforcement is aware of this and believe he could even be somewhere overseas.

I was looking forward to trying them out, but not to be.

All the 10k tula SP primers I had went bang.
That is except for the couple in each tray that had no anvil installed. No loose anvils found in the packaging either,, they came from the factory that way.

The cups are Mil Spec hard though. Can be a problem in guns with a light firing pin strike. No substitute for Federals.

Yeah where I’m Ky? I bought around 150k about 10 years ago from mid south shooters for 7$-k and I just used my last SPP last week. I liked them, prefer CCI more but honestly I saw no difference,
