I'm guessing .429"
Also, if you feel like telling me how this thing is supposed to work with grease, I'd be happy for you to do so
I've got experience with bp rifles, first pistol though

Before I buy a mold I just want to get a few balls of different molds and see what is going to work best for it

"Armisport Model 51 38"
Not trying to have a conversation here - trying to find out exactly what you have.
1. Is it a cap and ball revolver?
2. If it is - when you say "51" - is it a 1851 Colt Navy Clone"? If it is, it will be a 36 caliber requiring a .375 round ball. When you use the number "38" are you referring to what you think it is, or is the "51 38" a model number of some sort?
3. Some companies have produced the 1851 Navy in .44 caliber, although not historically correct. If it is a .44 - you'll need a .454 to .457 round ball. The sizes listed for the calibers allow for shearing a nice lead ring when seating in the chamber to insure chamber is sealed.
4. If it is NOT a cap and ball revolver, but instead a single shot - use a ball ten thousandths smaller with a patch just as you would in a rifle and cut the powder charge in half to start. i.e. good full of thumb is 1 grain per caliber, as far as rifle, so if it is a .40 cal. - start around 20 grains and go cup or down according to what the individual gun likes.
IF it is a cap & ball revolver - there are a number of fairly good videos out there - Google "loading a cap and ball revolver" or refer to a good black powder manual.
Sorry . . . but so far what I've read here gives very little;e info on what you actually have. And, once you figure that out - get some balls to try first before you buy a mold so you know what size works best with whatever you have. Good luck!
It's a cap and ball revolver
When I search the model it pops up as *Army*
I'm not familiar with all the different types of cal and ball *navy, army, and whatnot*
It's a six shooter that uses caps, made in Italy, and has 44 on the side
Unfortunately, that's all I know
I'll snap a picture of it tomorrow for better ID

If you’re near DFW, give me a shout.
The sooner I fall behind...the more time I have to catch up with
I have a box of 100 Hornady .44 cal lead balls. Feel free to PM me if interested.
Both of theses are termed "44" but actually have .451" chambers
I load them up with .454" balls for a good seal. You want to see a little ring of lead when you seat the 6 chambers.
.429" could cause chain fires, not good.
Top is a Remington New Model Army
bottom is a Colt 1860 Army.
