    I have a couple. They're fun to shoot but don't get wrapped up in "more powder". The action isn't the strongest.

    Musket if they haven't been molested.

    Musket nipple, Mine was a good shooter with about 4 inch groups at 100 yards, but the front sight needs replaced from the factory unless you shoot 300 yards. Ve;locity with hunting loads rran 1050 fps from Swiss FFg and a Lyman bullet in a plastic case with mild compression. I also replaced the trigger spring with a lighter one and set the trigger a 4 pounds even. I would still be shooting the gun but my eyes went bad and I couldn't see the sights any more.

    The Pietta Smith Carbine has not been available for almost 2 years and they have no idea if or when it will be available.

    Fun gun to shoot. Not a muzzleloader though.

    I have one - love it. I use an Eras Gone mold which casts a copy of the original Smith bullt, I size mine to .515. NOE also sells a Smith bullet clone but it has 2 lube grooves instead of the original one. Track of Wolf also sells a multi cavity mold for Smiths - different design from the original style.

    I use the black plattic cartridge cases and the surgical rubber tubes from Yore Supply - I personally like them a lot.

    Charges are pretty much dictated by the cartridge volume capacity. A fun carbine to shoot!

    Not knowing anything about the Smith Carbine, I went looking. Looks to be an interesting and fun rifle to own and shoot. For those like me who know nothing, here's a pretty good info video on it;
