The salesman that sold a Honda HR-V to us said Honda doesn't like the dealer marking up. Honda can fine them so call or write Honda about the markup. Several dealers I talked to said a protection package is add by dealer when car hits the lot. My salesman said it is BS and Honda gets mad if the dealer requires it before they will sell to you.

its sad that it seems obsolescence is built into just about everything these days. those engineers probably know when just about every part will fail.

2.4l Theta (I & II) both have problems, mainly cooling of cylinders.
    Whatever!

You can get a decent 2013 Model S for around $30k now.
You can get a model 3 for about $8k more that is newer.

Problem is the battery. A replacement battery for a S is around $22k.
Regardless of the amount of miles, it’s just a matter of time when the battery pack will fail.
Typically it’s a handful of cells in a battery pack that kills it.

There is a company that repairs them by cutting out the bad cells or replacing a sheet in the battery pack.

Back to the Kia, it boils down to liability.
No one is gonna repair a vehicle that has a unibody that is rusty.
Most shops believe if they repair it then it’s gonna be their problem when/if it fails.

I don’t have rust problems so much here in SC.
I do drive 60 miles a day going to and from work.
My current commuter is my mother in laws of 2007 Toyota Corolla.
It has 214k miles on it and runs like a top.

My old commuter my daughter is now driving, it’s a 2011 Nissan Sentra with 160k miles on it. It runs good but I will have to sink $1000 into replacing the subframe bushings and $200 or so replacing the catalytic converter (CEL issue)

Zeibart undercoating costs around $200 here.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

I had a body mount pull right out of a 1988 Jimmy. I fabbed a piece of metal that reached good steel and used sheet metal screws. I would try it on a unit body car too if the rest of the car was still worthwhile.

Not factory recommended, but I once fabbed a rear shock tower insert that bolted into the remaining good metal that hadn't rusted out...don't remember how many years it was, but it was solid until the car caught fire and roasted. Some times there are options, some times there aren't.

Decades ago, GONRA was seekin' a NEW GM "J- car" hatchback for the Little Family - wife, teen age kids, etc.
Dealer's Benevolent Caring-Sharing Salesman started off their All Heart "$500 Rusty Jones" package spiel....

At the time, all us Verker Bees read Automotive News on the job....

Told Salesman that for $20 chemicals and maybe an hours verk
by a High School Dropout its Ready-To-Go "Sucker". ...

Salesman said "OK - for YOU its $50."

The line items: “Dealer Install Equipment” and “Limited Availability” on a new vehicle sticker are ways to gouge buyers for a bigger profit.
I am big on doing repairs to keep a vehicle on the road, but I can understand why a business would refuse to cobble together suspension system brackets etc. If the repair fails they are liable for any damage or injury.

I've been doing Fluidfilm on my stuff. Got a high volume low pressure sprayer at first then I bout the Woolwax spray kit for $80. Fluidfilm can be had for $40 a gallon and a half gal will do a vehicle. It took 3/4 gal initially on my '87 long bed super cab f250 to get up inside the bedsides and cab corners. A half after that
