    Illinois toll roads

So I have been over the Ohio river on I 65 and driven around Ok city where tolls are to be paid. They send me a bill I send them a check. In Illinois there is a small sign that I need to read and get information about paying the tolls. There use to be toll collectors but not any more that I can see. Does anyone have any experience with there? It looks like the toll jumps up a lot after 14 days if not paid.

I think you have to create an account and log into their online system. https://www.getipass.com - It should have a way to search for your license plate. I had to do it a few years back.

I have a transponder thingy now but I have used their online system to reload with funds each time I drive through.

Indiana can be just as bad. About a month ago I got charged $89 for a toll in Indiana that should have been $9, so I contacted them. They said contact Illinois (since I have an ipass transponder). Illinois said contact Indiana. So I emailed both together....4 times now. Still no response. And Im still out $80

If you are traveling through IL or East and some south where tolls are charged (like entering KY from IN) the cheapest way to go is to get a Massachusetts EZ Pass (https://www.mass.gov/how-to/apply-for-e-zpass-ma). They are free and you can put $20.00 on account and they will notify you when it's gone). Good for pretty much all toll roads and bridges east of the Mississippi.

No $1.00 a month service fee like NJ? Still have mine from when I moved 5 1/2 years ago and do not drive distances anymore.

Indiana’s I-90 is not owned by the state any longer. It is leased out for about 90 more years. Funny that since the deal was made they have whined about lack of funds and begged for toll hikes.

I dont have a ezpass in my truck, when we go on trips with it i roll thru the non- manned booths and eventually a bill will show up.

Some states dont have a fee retrprocity agreement and out of state plates may not be charged. Wash DC is going thru this now... non residents dont have to pay the red light or speeding cam fines

ive learned the hard way but still haven't done it but will get an ez pass before going on any trip.
even in florida tolls are automatic and if your not paying attention sometime after a trip you get a notice in mail saying your license will be suspended if you dont pay some outrageous amount in a short period of time.
I went though a $5 toll that ended up costing me about some $100
what is going on with tolls and bill collection associated with it can only be called highway robbery

The iPass transponder is (or at least was) free. There might be a small deposit, which is refundable when/if you return it. You save 1/2 the toll cost also.

I use the EZ Pass here in NC. I keep a minimum balance in my ez pass account, when it gets low they ding my debit card for another $20 and send me an email. We go to FL and it works there the same way.

I kinda don't mind the tolls around the 540 loop, the toll part is basically new uncrowded 8 lane pristine roadway that a lot of folks avoid so traffic is light on the toll parts.

Florida? Anywhere around Orlando? LOL light traffic? Yeah at 3am! Other times pack a lunch, a good book to read, just make sure you know which lane you belong in at the toll booth.

Is there a toll road West of the Mississippi River ? Nothing like paying for stuff forever, Wyoming is the only state I have lived in when they said a special tax was for certain amount of money they stopped early collecting the tax.

Kansas has the Kansas Turnpike from the Kansas City metro to the Oklahoma line. OK has some toll roads, as does CO in the Denver area.

    There's several.

We have some that are HOV lanes.
With the toll tag, you pay to use it, but if there is a passenger or two in the car, they don't charge you.
