I really like the Saeco #383. Its a 140g swc with a long nose for feeding.

Look to what the competitive target shooters use to win money with.

    They're pretty big on DEWCs.

DEWC in 38 super? I don't claim to be in the know, but I'd expect 38 super to be at its best with something like a 147gr truncated cone, maybe even 357 magnum bullets like a 158gr rnfp.

I like the LEE and Lyman lube groove WC.
Every gun is different. My loads are more accurate than my 66 year old eyes can shoot them.

I think some people have the 38 Super confused with the 38 Special!

Back when USPA allowed 38 Super in Major Class, I had a 160 TC that shoot great. After that mostly 140-145 gr are the popular bullets for the Super. Helps to remember most 38 Supers are really 38's not 9 m/m Plus have to agree, DEWC are not Super bullets GW

Rim Rock Bullets makes a 148 gr. cast TC that seems to have gotten good reviews. You might try a box of those and order a mold for them, if they turn out to work especially well. The SAECO #383 seems to work well in almost every .38 Super, with some Unique or Herco behind it.

Oppss. I wasn't wearing my glasses and read over the super part.
A DEWC probably wouldn't even feed in a regular frame & chamber.

It took me too long to find a .38 Super but one finally came to me as a "pre-70" Colt lightweight Commander in 98% original condition. The boolit mold I have used for that pistol is the Lyman 358480 (133 gr. weight) and I could not be happier with any other mold. As always your groups, velocity, etc may tell you to find a different mold but I'm not looking for that. This mold is the only one my pistol likes even after loading different patterns for testing. YMMV.

    Greetings,

Years ago, a friend had Jim Clark build a 1911 38 Super for Bullseye use. He used the H&G #73 bullet with Winchester 231. Shot X-ring at 50 yards. It was written up in the American Rifleman; but, I cannot recall which issue.

    Cheers,

    Dave

    NOE #358 - 124 - TC GC
Size to .357" or .358" depending on barrel .
124 grain Truncated Cone w/ gas check installed .
cast from 50-50 COWW and soft scrap lead . Air Cooled .
The gas check allows decent velocities with no leading .

    This one works in 38 Super , 9mm Luger , 38 Special , 38 Special +P and 357 Magnum .

Any time you want to use a rather soft alloy and +1,000 fps velocity ... this design delivers the goods .

I have a Saeco #384 , #377 and the # 929, I have two 38 supers one with Nowlen and another with a Kart barrel , I also have several 9mms all guns shoot the best with either the #929 or the #377, sized @.357 dia, though i usually dont use the 929 in the 9mm .

I still have the mold I used for .38Super when I had one. It's a discontinued RCBS #38-158-RN.
But it has NO crimping groove. The nose is slightly longer then the mold w/crimping groove. Dropped bullets at .358 with 1/2 Lino / 1/2 COWW. Sized at .357, My OLD Colt loved it.

Happiness is a Warm GUN & more ammo to shoot in it.
