    Daisy 853C - CMP

I just ordered a Daisy 853C air rifle from the CMP. Advertised for $125 plus $15 shipping, it has new seals and comes with target receiver and globe front sights. Online reviews seem to be good. Hope I can thin the crows and squirrels that raid my bird feeders.

It might be a bit underpowered...but a great target gun.

    Great rifle!

States velocity is only 490fps though, and those are often a bit high. May not be a humane tool to use on critters.

I believe you may be right, however for the money, it should be a fun shooter!

Been shooting it for a week or so, using three types of RWS pellets and one of Crosman Competition pellets.
And… it is accurate , with the right ammo, but is marginally stronger than my Red Ryder!
Nice rifle, but it’s going to my grandkids.

Decided to look into a Beeman R7.

I believe that an R7 is the Weihrauch HW30 and the R9 is the HW50. I believe AGAZ sells teh HW 35E which is one of the best airguns ever made and still made since 1951!

    https://www.airgunsofarizona.com/spr...-hw35e-walnut/

These are a little more expensive but you are getting a super quality Rifle that will bring a lot of joy in use for about 100 years. I have two of them and my first Airgun was a HW35EB which was the version imported by Beeman back in the day. I got mine in 1976-7 and it still looks like new. Has had literally thousands of rounds fired. A few years ago I found an HW35E in a shop adn got it for $60! I had to refinish the stock as it had sat in someone's closet for decades. Both of these guns are 1 hole guns.

This is definitely a case where you spend a little more and get a lot more in return.
