I am using both unique and 231, with plans to switch to power pistol. Thanks for your results. Oh, and using win 540 with a lee 158 SWC for a published plus P load. Sorry, my chrono on the blink.

I hadn’t shot much .38 Special in years, purchased a 2 1/2” GP-100 last year and then found that .357 brass and ammo were unobtainium. All my old brass has reached an age where it can legally buy beer.

I managed to get some Starline .38 brass and using a plain base NOE 158gr FN I was happy to get

    BE-86 931fps
    CFE Pistol 951fps

Using near or at max loads from the Alliant and Hodgdon websites. Accuracy is great without leading for either load.
As an added plus I used the Hodgdon max load of CFE Pistol to get 1,016fps with the 125gr XTP.
Interesting enough the 2 1/2” GP is very close on the heels of the same loads from my 40+ year old 6” Security Six.

Happiness is a couple of 38's and a bucket of ammo.

…I get 899 fps with 4.7 grs and W231, with tight ES in Ruger 4 5/8 inch BH. A basic and accurate +P load…

    45-45-10 lube x2 @ 1/4 tsp per 2 lbs boolits.
3" SP101 (One of the French Police trades-ins)
856 fps, ES 49 fps, SD 15 fps
    Chrono'd 10 rounds.

This shows at right on the lower edge of +P, but I got 850+ fps from a 3"barrel.
