    NEF receivers

Can anybody describe for me how to identify those H&R /NEF receivers which are suitable for low pressure cartridges vs receivers designed for higher pressure cartridges? Secondly, are the case hardened receivers suitable for high pressure cartridges? The barrels are marked SB2 (high pressure), but not the receivers.
    Thanks

There is a lot to learn about the H&R and NEF receivers, the best way is go to Graybeard Outdoors forum.
Then go to H&R centerfire rifles and then the FAQ’s and you can spend time reading all about the receivers,
barrels and everything about the break action handi rifles. There are many variations and I can’t explain it well enough to make sense of it all . I wish you well !

    +1 on GBO.
The case hardened (finish) frames are restricted to cartridges at or below 30-30 Winchester pressure.
Remove the buttstock; the SB2 frame appears solid around the bolt threads.
The other frames have open cavities there.

Thanks all. TBG, I knew it was something like that. I did check out the GB site and it has a bunch of info. I even printed out some to keep.

You sure? I’ve always been surprised that the open web was stronger than the solid…but then I could have it wrong.

I could have the SB numbers mixed up.
    GBO to the rescue.
But the solid ones are the strongest.

The open web SB-2 frames are stronger because of the material used, steel versus the cast iron of the SB-1 and older H & R's.
Spell check doesn't work in Chrome, so if something is spelled wrong, it's just a typo that I missed.

All I get on that link is a thread about atheist summer camp.....
But hey, thanks for the correction- I'll write it down this time because the ink is fading on my mental notes!
