Angry AR550 is this normal for M193 at 100yds

So target is ShootSteel 3/8 AR 550 its a 12x20 inch sliloette.... 10 hits 100yds Winchester white box M193 circled in red fired from a BCM Recce 18in barrel, the green circle is 7.62 x 39 Wolf fired from standard Yugo SKS, 100 yds as well.

Is this normal wear and tear for AR 550 steel at 100 yds. my expectation was to see no divots in the steel. The 5.56 divots are perfect little bb diameter.

Yes. The bullet speed is too high. It’ll happen at 200 also.

The targets should have come with a bullet speed rating.

If the wolf stuff has a steel jacket it has much higher tensile strength than copper/gilding metal and doesn't break up immediately upon impact. This allows the bullet to hold together longer and dent the plate. Most of the plate makers will tell you do not shot steel on steel. Besides damaging the plate it poses a bigger ricochet hazard. Wolf sometimes tricks people by copper plating the steel jacket so test the bullet with a magnet.
