Depends on if you think a cartridge close to a Win. 30-30, is better than the 223/5.56?

I would rather have the 5.56 an actual great CQB round, light, accurate, cheap, and readily available?

Your right about cheap and available I can't argue that, but my thought was more towards not as loud and less muzzle flash. AK47 power from a 12'' barrel due to the use of pistol powders and a better burn before the bullet exits the barrel.
I don't have either one in a pistol now but the closest I came to one was a 12'' .223 Thompson Center Contender, it was loudest gun at the range and I couldn't see after I shot it in low light LOL. But I see your point.

Hi,
I built this pistol with a 12.5" Barrel for that reason.

I also have a KAW Diffuser, on the Muzzle that will direct the blast forward.

These two things should help with a pleasent shoot for me and others at the range.

I really would not go any shorter at this time in life even though...

I used to enjoy shooting those Hand Cannons, in my younger days!!!
