Stoeger Shotgun New Barrel Goes "Click"

I bought a replacement barrel for a P390 with a cantilever to use a red dot. It is a factory barrel for this gun. When I installed it, fit right with no problems it does not work. I can load the shell but all i get is a click with no markings on the primer. Original barrel works fine.

Any suggestions like grinding off some of the end to set the barrel back?

Seems to me the best thing to do is return it to where you got it with a description of the problem. Once you molest it is yours forever even though it has now become a club.

Not familiar with the P390, but I would strip the action down until I could see the bolt and locking lug, and how it engages. Or doesn't.

Well, knowing that I would have to agree.

    I'd contact them anyway.
The worst they can is, 'no'!
Explain everything, maybe they can point you in the right direction.

If the original barrel works fine it sounds like you’ve isolated the problem. Did you closely examine them side by side?

Sounds like headspace. I'd get an RMA from them and send it back.

sounds like a safety feature that will not let the gun fire until the locking bolt is extended fully
might need to remove some metal on the barrel lug recess to let the locking bolt engage fully
