I’ve stopped referring to it as the Fourth of July. Calling it the ‘4th’ ignores the fact Independence Day is reason we can have all our other holidays.

We have an Independence Day because our Founding Fathers and their brethren did not shirk from their single-minded purpose in KILLING the British invaders WITH GUNS to prevent this Nation from becoming another of the Crown's "holdings". George Washington did not negotiate with the British. He, and the Colonists, SHOT THEM.
With the rot of communism and socialism that has crept in, it is with no humor that the "memester" using George Washington writes, "Me and my homies would have been stacking bodies by now." I think we approach another day, one that Thomas Jefferson envisioned as, "the Tree of Liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of tyrants and Patriots."
