    Powder coat w/o BBs?

I've run out of the black airsoft BBs. I seem to remember reading here somewhere (though now I can't find it) that folks were having good results shake and bake method without using the BBs.

    Is that accurate?
    Thanks

I no longer use bb’s and have not had any problems with coverage. Just make sure you don’t use too much powder.
Due to the price of primers, warning shots will no longer be given!

I started without and when I once added some, it didn’t seem to make a difference.

It will work without BBs, especially if you use Smokes clear! But, I tried no bbs just to satisfy my curiosity, the powder does stick! No problems for me, at least. Might have gotten lucky, never can tell. Good luck

Thanks all. Tried it today with Smoke's powder and indeed it works.

Life is better without the bb's IMO.

I tried the BB thing and didn't like it. NO BB's for me and Smokes powder works great.

I have coated with and without bb’s, no difference unless I was doing a smaller batch the bb’s seemed to have helped even out the coating.

I like using the BB's. Rifle bullets stood on end, picked out of the shaker bowl one at a time with tweezers. 50-80 per batch. No sifting needed.

I thought the BB's where what helped make static?

Never used BBs at all. Got great coverage. Use a quality powder I believe is the right step toward powder coating.

They might help but aren't necessary. Unless you really feel like searching amongst the BB's for your coated bullets. Or like adding another step.

I use styrofoam cup pieces. You can even find them in the MacDonald's garbage can or buy them at the dollar store.

The one thing that's always a problem with styrofoam (in any form) is that it is extremely staticky. If we depend on static to help the powder adhere, then styrofoam would be ideal for adding static to the equation. I think I have to try this.

Nothing wrong either way. They simply increase surface area to build static better.
Personally I do not use and have t needed them. But some do. What ever makes things better.
