I just received a old set of Lyman 429 421 mold blocks never used plus a set of handles that appear to be made out of brass.
This is the original Keith 245gr Semi-Wad Cutter.

I think that is still the best all round bullet for the 44 mag.

there are lots of good powders and loads for it 19 grains accurate #9 is a good one.. roll crimp at crimp groove I could go on an on with powders and loads.
just check the imr/hodgdon web site and the Alliant web site and it will have loads using all the most common powders
A good medium plinking load is 9.5grs of Unique.
I just love old molds.
I HATE auto-correct
Happiness is a Warm GUN & more ammo to shoot in it.

I will check oal when I get home from work.remember to work up all loads
And I just load to crimp groove.
I have loaded thousands of the Lyman 429421 bullet. I seated all to the crimp groove and disregarded "OAL". Worked quite well in 4 of my 5 44 Magnum guns. I switched to a Ranch Dog RNFP for my Puma carbine to get 100% feeding. I used load data right out of my Lyman 48th Edition Reloading Handbook...
My Anchor is holding fast!
The following top end magnum loads under a Lyman 429421 (245 - 255 gr) have always performed very well in my Ruger and Colt 44 magnums. I have pressure tested them and they are at or under the SAAMI 44 Magnum MAP of 36,000 psi. I use R-P and Winchester cases with WLP or CCI 350 primers. If you try these loads suggest dropping 10% and work back up.
22 gr of Alliant 2400.
24.5 gr H110.
17.5 gr of Blue Dot.
For a much gentler load which I most often use these days under the Lyman 429421 or the RCBS 44-250-KT is 9.0 gr of Unique. It runs at 21,100 psi and gives 1075 fps out of my 6 1/2" barreled Ruger FTBH. Using 8.5 gr Unique the velocity drops to 1010 fps and it is really a pleasant load to shoot still having plenty of "oomph".
Bottom end 44 SPL equivalent load I use in Magnum cases is 6 gr of Bullseye. I Mostly use the Le TL 240 gr SWC bullet in these as the different SWC nose tells me instantly they are low end 44 SPL equivalent loads.
