    Primers

Just checked some of the on-line shops, and it looks like no one has any primers.
    That is crazy.
Where are all the primers going?????
I have a stash, but the last time I bought any was 5 years ago.
I buy them when the price is right.
Case lot most of the time.
    Kind of glad I did.

The amount of small arms ammo the US is supplying Ukraine is not helping the primer supply.

Not keeping up with current events I’m afraid. Pandemic primers cost 3x-4x what pre pandemic primers cost. And no one has pre pandemic primers for sale. I’m waiting for post pandemic primers to come out at 2x what they were. Good luck.

Only primers I'm short of is the standard small pistol. Down to about 800 before I need to figure out the switch to small pistol magnum. I'd pay ten cents each if I could find them local to avoid HazMat and shipping. Gp

Powder Valley had CCI small rifle for a few minutes this morning for $85+shipping.

You have to pound the virtual pavement. I had a list of sites for the 350L brass that I would visit every day or two.

I just posted the following in the other new "primers" thread.

I have been watching for SPP for a while

Zinc Point has been around for while and were gouging pretty bad for a while. Recently they look to have a lot of SPP and have dropped prices.

    https://zincpoint.com/ammo-components/

As previously noted, Midway has CCI 450 (small rifle magnum, good for 223) for $99 per thousand (133.29 delivered)

Other places are showing stock that does not sell out right away. Look hard enough and you will find someone selling what you need. Do not expect to get US made at much better than Midway, imports can be had for less.

    Take a look at https://ammoseek.com/reloading/primers

If you are lucky enough to live near a Scheels, check the shelves personally. I bought CCI small rifle in the COSP Scheels for $74 per K about a month ago.

I two days ago, I received 2k SPs from Zinc Point for $224 delivered which is actually LESS than I would have paid from Brownell's or Midway (after hazmat, shipping, and sales tax) at their currently posted retail prices, assuming I might get in an order when they actually have some in stock.

Loaded a test run of 50 and they all went 'bang' in my SIG with no immediately apparent issue(s). Will chrono some next trip to the range to see if there's any significant shift in MV from the Federals I've been using.

I came up short on small pistol primers so tried small rifle primers in 9mm luger and found that it made a good load. wasn't concerned about the difference in brisance as much as would the firing pin on a pistol fire off the rifle primer. Everything went well with no problems at all. Made a very good substitute.

Got enough primers to last another year. Factory ammo to last at least that long though really none im .38, .357, .44 or .45. Ammo for revolvers, particularly magnums is too darn expensive.

It costs me about 3$/1000. I reload 50 primers in about 20 min but that time will decrease. They are as reliable but can be more powerful than commercial primers if you want. If you have the smarts to reload you have the smarts to make the non corrosive primer mixes out there but someone has to teach you. Its a beautiful thing to not give a darn anymore I shot more this year than any other year already and i haven't used a single commercial primer. I'm set for life and we were being gouged even when the price per 1000 was 30$.
