New Scope with Conetrol Rings & Bases

Last month I found a Savage 99F rifle in excellent condition in 308 Win. I mounted a Leupold VX-3HD 1.5-5x20 scope with Conetrol bases and rings. These rings are without projections and both rings may be laterally adjusted. The Conetrol scope mounting system cost more and are a little more difficult install than the Redfield system but make a more sleek and elegant assembly. I have another set of these on my Ruger No.1 rifle. What do you think of the looks of these?

I like them, they are very similar to the Buehler mounts I've used in the past.

They are the best looking factory rings in my opinion. They are best for when the scope and rifle are expected to stay married.

That has been my opinion also.

As a teen, I always got star struck when I saw a magazine picture of a shiny new Weatherby, with its glinting metal, slick wood stock & glossy scope nestled in a matching set of Conetrol mounts. Times & tastes have changed but they still are best looking rings & mount around. Glad to see they are still around.

Very classy looking! The way you've set up your rifle it just looks like a Savage 99 should.

The absolute best ring/base system for looks & function. All of my hunting guns that have been passed along to my children & grand children have them. The exception being the Ruger 77s.
