Henry single shot 45-70 load pressure

Just for your information, I wrote Henry about what pressure reloads for the 45-70 were safe. I am buying one soon. Here is what they said.

We're unable to comment on handloads as their use technically voids our Warranty terms but I can confirm our model H015-4570 falls into the 1895/modern lever category for action strength.

It will safely handle all commercial .45-70 loads except those that are listed "For Ruger No 1 Only."

You would think a break action would be similar to a falling block in strength but I’m sure they are concerned about liability. It’s interesting they gave you that much of a response…most companies just say no reloads and leave it at that.

I wanted to buy a single shot Henry 45-70 just to shoot low velocity, multi-ball gallery loads at varmints but never got around to it. I’ve always liked those loads but POA is way different from normal rounds.
