    Anniversary yesterday

Forty seven years ago we were married. The best choice I ever made.

    Congratulations on 47!
Yesterday was 42 for us, SWMBO since 6/7/80.

Happiness for a weak woman is to be envied. That's how women are trained these days.
Happiness for a strong woman is to know she is loved. Then get out of her way.

Why did Adam eat the apple?
Because he didn't want to live forever without her.
Adam certainly knew better than to eat the thing,
but Adam knew what Eden was like without Eve.

My dad's test of a potential wife worked for both of us:
Show her a canoe on a beach.
If she doesn't know what it is
    or if she can't swim
or if she gets in the stern
    that's a fail, she's not the one.
    She will beach you.

Maybe your prospective life partner gets in the bow, and we push off.
    How's her draw stroke?
You are steering, how does she tell you where she wants to go?
    Does she keep paddling?
    Does she know her knots?
When you step the lugsail and start reaching does she relax or panic?
If all goes well try Fishing.
You can find out everything about a person with a canoe

And the final test: roll the canoe.
    (Not on a first date)
Will she bail the boat and carry on wet?
Married life is one swamped canoe after another.
We are going to be canoeing with small children soon.
Can you roll a canoe with lunch, wife, dog and twin toddlers aboard?
    You're going to find out...
You should see my Viking with her paddle.

Married 56 years my mother learned my dad would roll a canoe just for fun.
So will I. It's what canoes do at the end of a hot day. Make a virtue of necessity.
The camera towels and pocketbook will be in the dry cooler.
This test works for children too. We teach swimming, then canoe.
Then swimming with a pfd in a canoe.

My daughter tested my son-in-law with my war canoe the 16 foot SeaNymph
he got in the stern, pushed off, and she rolled it.
    They've been married 16 years.

Happy anniversary to you and your bride! You’ve been married over a decade longer than I’ve been alive. May your days together be long and happy and your hard times be short and tolerable.

Congrats Wayne....like you we will be 46 years in December....where has the time gone and yes I would do it all over again....we just lucked out Wayne!

    Blessings on you both….

For me it was easy, I simply asked my best friend to marry me….56 years ago.

    Congratulations Wayne!
We just celebrated 60 years of marriage on May 19th this year.
My wife says it only seems like 70!

Congrats on finding a keeper. We got to 30 before I got hurt and she wanted more fun pastures. Found a keeper now and we will keep it that way, nice and unmarried but together. Best of luck for many more great married years.
