    Ruger RedHawlk ?

I was just looking on Ruger's web site

I had read there was a 41 Mag Ruger RedHawlk being made again
So I wanted to see what was offered , as I was hoping to find they had 7 1/2" barrels with scope rings
As I have not looked at buying a Ruger revolver in a number of years

But what shocked me was non of the RedHawlks had scope mounts

When did they drop having the barrels cut for scope rings ?

They were listing they had sleeve and shroud barrels
So I guess they have changed a few things

I wonder why not have scope rings on the barrels ?
Maybe the sleeve and shroud barrel couldn't take the stress of holding a scope or Red Dot sight ?
Or maybe the 7 1/2" barrel with scope rings didn't sell well enough ?

    Thanks
    John

Did any of the RedHawks ever have the cuts for Ruger rings? I had one in 45 Colt with 5 1/2 in barrel and it didn't have the cuts. I know the Super Redhawks did.

My Redhawk in 41 is cut for rings. With the long barrel and the scope mounted it is pretty heavy.

Although ALL Super Readhawks had ring cuts only the 7 1/2" Readhawks had the ring cuts and not ALL 7 1/2" versions did...

Like most companies,, Ruger builds what sells the most.
Yes,, they USED to make a Redhawk in .41 mag with a 7-1/2" bbl,, with scope rings. And over the years many variations of the Redhawks have been offered. Some with & some w/o scope rings. Some blue, some stainless. Different barrel lengths,, and even some lower production numbers of a few calibers.
No problems with scopes mounted on the bbl. They have just changed HOW they build the guns.

    Sales numbers drive production.

PS; I recently found a nice Redhawk, .41 mag, with a scope already on it. Box & papers,, at a gun show. They are out there.

If you want a scoped redhawk you might look at the Wieland mount. It's a rail that uses the removable front sight base and the rear sight screw as anchor points. I have one on a GP100 and it works great.

I did not know that. Thank you sir! I always liked the shorter barreled Redhawks but the Super....oh my, that thing is ugly.

I agree the Ruger Super RedHawlk is ugly

    But I have both a 7 1/2" and a 9 1/2" Ruger Super RedHawlk in 454 ( not sure when they stopped offering the 9 1/2" )
With moderate loads using a 300 Gr cast bullet and a RedDot sight on the 9 1/2" Ruger Super RedHawlk in 454
I can shoot clay targets on the 200 meter backstop with no problems
Ruger may have made a ugly pistol
But they shoot great and are over built
As I know people that load almost 460 S&W loads in the 454 case and shoot a lot of them out of a super redhawlk

Glad to hear I'm not the only odd ball out there with the 9.5" 454.. Got it a little after they were introduced. It's a kick to shoot, and cheap plinking when making your own cast pills.
