    Who’s Going to the Quigley?

I’m curious as to who intends going to the Quigley Shoot next month. I plan to make the drive from central Fl and hook-up with my brother in law coming from Philadelphia in Dayton, OH. This will be my first Quigley and am looking forward to learning from the old hands at this addicting sport.

Sounds like a good road trip. I'm not going but glad to hear you are. What is the gun and load you will be using?

Rifle is a 30” barreled Shiloh Sharps. Load is 68 grains of OE 1.5 and a 535 grain bore riding bullet from my Hoch mould, separated by a milk carton and newspaper wad. Lube is Gato Feo #1

45-70 I assume? Hopefully it's a winner. Holy cow I just looked at the map, you have a serious road trip ahead. 5000+ miles roundtrip, hopefully fuel price drops some before then. Good luck to you.

Yes, 45-70. Taking brother in laws van/camper but that won’t offset the price of diesel to get there. This is sure one expensive hobby

Got a few friends going, couldn't make it happen this year. I'll be at the NRA Silhouette Nationals in Raton in July though.

We had a practice session today and a couple of gents were getting some sight setting for our new range and shooting shed. Shot at 200,309, 385,410,485, 560 and 625 yards. I got 2 rifles sight settings. Who ho!
    2 are going to Quigley.

Not this year either, my recovery is still going and going I guess that is what happens when you cross 75, recovery gets slower. I am cutting up and cutting down trees, so things are looking better.

1500 miles round trip from the Boise area will burn some $5+ gas!
It will be interesting how much it may effect attendance. Two of us are splitting the gas, so that helps.
Only did so-so last year without hitting a single Buf. using a .40-65 in the wind. This year I'll be bringing a .45-70 that should hold up a bit better.
Just hoping to finish in the top 50 would feel like 'good enough' to me as I'm about to turn 78.

It’s over. I need a lot of work on the 350 offhand but pleased with their other targets. On Saturday, winds were around 10-15 mph, but Sunday they were 20 with occasional gusts I lucked out dope g my wind and dinged the Buffalo 5/8 and 600 7/8. Next year, next year

I had a blast. Lessons learned:
    1. There’s no time to wipe between shots
    2. Blow tubes work
    3. Keep ammo cool to keep lube from melting
    4. There’s no slack to take up in a set trigger. Happened twice

Got home yesterday afternoon, singing the old song Six Days on the Road and I’m Going to Make it Home Tonight, although it was 5 days travel for me. Got my brass cleaned and polished and ready to load some more soon
