Marking Ingots from Redneck Gold Mold

I got one of the Redneck Gold ingot molds and I am trying to decide how to use the markings on the ingots.
    Pb is lead
    Ln is Linotype
    WW is wheelweights
OT I will guess is other.
I don’t want to obliterate the markings but want to indicate what the ingot alloy is.
    How would you do it?

It is sort of personal choice. I put a double XX on either side of the type of lead XX WW XX or XX LN XX. I stamp this in with a metal stamp. If it is something else I will put the type of alloy stamped over top of OT. It is really up to you. Most people will be able to figure out just about any kind of markings. If it is wheel weights and there is any kind of mark at all by the Wheel weight marker and nowhere else then there you have it, wheel weights it is.

Can you guess how many X's are in that pile?

“X” above the corresponding symbol, and then, if for tin, or “other”, just mark it in the middle between the Redneck and the Gold! Simple.
I firmly believe that you should only get treated by how you act, not by who or what you are!!

I use a T-40 torque socket on a 4 inch extension and an old #3 Phillips screw driver and mark both sides of the corresponding alloy symbols. Wheel weights get *WW* for clip on or +WW+ for stick on all others get the T-40 torque because it's easy to put a visible mark with a light hammer strike.
    *PB*. *LN*. *OT*

    Great ideas, thanks!
I happen to have an old Phillips screwdriver that would be perfect for making marks on the ingots!

I think either an "X" next to the initials or maybe a "dot" made from a center punch would work well.

I don’t have one, but I would think 3 whacks with the ball of an 8 ounce ball peen hammer on what it ain’t leaves what it is. To my mind that would be a lot faster than handling stamps and such.

Lightman might be on to something as well. A dot or two with an automatic center punch would be fast and easy.

Wouldn’t even have to put the ingot down. Easy peasy in the palm of your hand.

I use a cold chisel and just strike a slash one time across the symbol of lead content type.

I use my Cast Boolits molds for final casting alloy (the base metals are stored as much larger ingots) so I don’t use the source markings, marking alloy content instead.

I use number stamps from HF to mark the content. 95 3 2, for example, is 95% Pb, 3% Sb, 2% Sn. The numbers fit above the content markings.

    The Phillips screwdriver idea works!
    Thanks for the suggestions!
