    5k mile stone ......

I've been thinking about what I would post for my 5,000th post .
I had visions of something wonderfully insightful , intellectually stimulating and just really fabulous in general .

Turns out I spent it on a thread with about as much depth as "can I shoot this without a gas check ?"

    Oh well ........

Tell me one happy thing , a positive thought if you will .

I'm on top of the grass , on the home stretch to 56 , and I've made 5,000 posts will only 1-2 reminders that we don't say that .

    You're up , let er' rip .

I'll give it a go Harter....

Last weekend me, a cpl of sons, one Gdaughter, and one DIL were finishing up a big 3 day trad bow shoot. Down at the clubhouse, throwing our garbage into the supplied dumpster. Hugs, kisses, and saying goodbyes, whilst the club boys were streaming in on 4 wheeler's pulling trailers of 3D targets.

They stop at the dumpster and are tossing a javelina and an antelope.....

Yup,the boys see it and are over there asking for them. "They're past fixing" I think was the club's response. Took them home and had them "stitched" back together in under an hour. So got two new 3D targets for our range. Shot them yesterday.

A little over 2K with only a few slip ups. At 65 I am still trying to be the best I can be.

Well, I don't have that many posts,, but I can relate a bit.

I'll add a little personal item from today.
Today,, we said our goodbye's to a friend,,, and relative to many. He was just 62. His life had it's rough spots,, that had affected him since his teen years. He was in a car wreck,, where his mother, and a good friend (and distant relative) were killed. He was the only survivor. And at first,, they weren't sure he'd survive. He was just 14 when it happened. A logging truck hit them, while they were going to football practice. I still remember those days.
But today,, we (a lot of us,) celebrated his life. And a cousin gave an excellent eulogy that was NOT a glowing reflection of his life,, but an honest, down to earth reflection. He even mentioned the internal demons he'd lived with all these years,, (nowadays called survivor's remorse.) Yet,, most of the actual service,, (graveside only) was a huge gathering of friends,, family & extended family. I knew about 85%-90% of the people there. One lady flew from Las Vegas to be here in NC for this. As she spoke,, she had us smiling as well.
And I rejoiced in seeing another good friend who'd had a stroke several months ago,, who'd suffered greatly,, (age 59) yet was there,, walking with a cane & speaking. Made a lot of us smile.

So,, to finish out this post,, let's reflect a bit.

It's not the post count,, nor the content. It is about the fellowship we share here,, no matter if you have 1 post or 100,000! Keep posting & enjoy the fellowship!

5k is a lot of posts anywhere, but it isn’t spit in a bucket compared to the site leaders.

    Well, hey!

    I guess it is.

I have been away for a while spending a lot of time on AR15.com.

The General Discussion there can have a really high noise to signal ratio.

The technical subforums are really good there. And I think the moderators for those technical subforums run a tight ship.

    Anywhhhhoooooo!!!

Congrats on making it to 5K!

We miss having you at NCBS. Go for another 5K and by then I might have something insightful.

Gonna take me awhile to get that far especially since my shooting has been cut back due to neck/back. Keep saying someday.
