    Wow!

As it happens, I'm going to go look at one this afternoon with a private seller. If it looks even half as nice as yours, I'll snap it up in a heartbeat!

    Congrats to you!

Henry's weren't about when I bought my Pedersoli 1886 Sporting Rifle. At over 10lbs unloaded I think your Henry would have been a better choice.

Hold Still Varmint; while I plugs Yer!

I have never been a lover of case hardening but that is a beautiful rifle. I believe one would have to look fare and wide to find a better looking lever gun than those made by Henry, unless one was willing to pay a ransom. I would be very interested to hear how that beauty shoots. Regards Stephen

Picked up mine last night, as planned. VERY nice rifle.

I took pics but they are rather terrible. LOL

Absolutely! I can't wait to get out and shoot it. I even found a box of (overpriced) ammo for it at the local big box store so I'm good for the moment.

I'll get some loading dies, too. The aforementioned store didn't have the dies. Oh, and I need a mold, too.

Such fun! And I haven't even loaded it yet!

Your rifle is very handsome, especially the case hardening colorations. But I'm a 30-30 fan myself. TR

To my eye Bad Ass Wallace’s and Georgerkahn’s rifles are gorgeous but those hard hooked butt plates make my shoulder hurt from afar. M48Scout’s rifle looks to combine modern and classic styling into a nice package that would look great across your lap on a frosty morning in the deer woods.

Out of curiosity is the recoil pad on the Henry better than the ventilated brick Marlin used? My Guide Gun got a sporting clays style Pachmyr Deccelerator a few years ago that really tamed the thump on my end of the gun.

I have not shot the gun yet, so not sure on effectiveness. I will say it’s not super soft, it feels fairly firm. It may take the brunt of the edge off a hot load (?).

I need to get it out to the range and do a range report. I’ll write up something here soon.

FWIW My wife killed her first deer with her Guide Gun (we have his & hers) using a 400gr commercial cast boolit over Unique. It kicks like a 20ga target load and rolled the button buck over in his tracks. I was over 200 yards away and heard the bullet hit meat. You don’t “have” to use boomers to be successful. Which doesn’t stop me from using a 360gr NOE WFN over enough Varget to hit 1,800fps from my rifle.

I think you picked a grand rifle to go down the .45/70 rabbit hole.

    I have a Marlin 1895 Cowboy.
I put a Pachmayr white line recoil pad on it along with a Marble's tang sight.
If I knew how to post pictures I'd put it on here.
That case hardened Henry is one gorgeous gun!
