Perhaps of value to newbies as well as, say, more seasoned casters, the folks at Wolfe Publishing put out a video titled, Casting 101. Over an hour in length it does go into a bit of detail. Note: I have no association with them other than being a magazine subscriber. And, while I respect their methodology -- mine is not precisely the same.
