That is a POST target! I have shot the course many times.
The P is like that the X on a B-27 target.
POST stands for Police Officer Standards and Training.
The POST Council standardizes police training in states that have POST membership.
POST certified officer can transfer from one agency to another easily because they all have the same level of training
Texas has TCOLE and the standards are a little different.
POST firearms qualification is the same for all POST states and departments.
TCOLE has no specific course of fire, each department can set up their own within certain parameters.
POST shoots a 25,15,7 & 2 yards with 60 rounds with a specific number of rounds at each distance.
TCOLE mandates a certain number of rounds from 15 yards and that is it.
We did a different course of fire in the academy than we do with the Department.
We got a new instructor and now we do a different course of fire.
POST is the same where ever you go.

I worked Corrections in AK for 20 years. Our quals used an ipsc target scoring 5 points for A zone 3 for C and 1 for D. Ranges were from 2 to 25 yds with time ranging from 2 sec for 2 rds at 2 yds to 20 sec for 6 rounds at 25yds. Time started with gun holstered. Qualification for CO was 70% (168 of 240 points), for PTO was 80% (192) and for advanced handgun instructor was 90% (216). Also included were a failure to fire drill and a malfunction drill that were timed.

We were told by our training academy it was one of the most difficult quals for police in the US. We also trained with shotguns and AR 15 using the ipsc targets but the scoring was much easier. 80% hits on paper was all that was required.

Looks like a 100 yard pistol target to me!
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

It probably should be a 100 yd pistol target but I saw a group of Airport security folks being qualified using this target. Several were having trouble qualifying using this target. I had to walk away before I said something uncomplementary.

A gunsmith of my acquaintance once told me "the hardest thing I have to say to a customer is "there is nothing wrong with your gun."
Paper targets aren't your friends. They won't lie for you and they don't care if your feelings get hurt.
