"New" 1858 Remington, .36 Belt Pistol

Just received a new project but don't know for sure what I've got. 4 1/2" barrel, 5-shot cylinder. Markings are faint but appear to be appropriate for Remington New Model. Frame appears to be a medium - definitely smaller than the replica .44 that I have. Suggestions?

Perhaps a Navy model?? Can you make out what exactly the markings on the barrel say? Maybe also a 1863 New Model Police.

Try filling in any stampings you see with a white crayon than take a picture. It may help distinguish what it says.

It’s not an 1858, don’t know exactly what it is but it’s definitely not an 1858. First guess would be a 31 Ca pocket pistol.

Thanks! I just put in a request to Taylors and Company to consider this as an addition to their catalog...
