My son bought a new one with synthetic stock and now wishes he would have listened to the old man and got it with wood. PM if you have or know of one. Thanks.

what version stock are you looking for? The standard "battle" stock or the heavy match stock
I have a Springfield Armory walnut with metal. No handguard
I have a NIB Boyds 3 pc Walnut M1 Stock # 200-011-S no metal. PM to follow with pictures.
The GI contour wood stock is what was issued. They also issued fiberglass versions. The match wood stock are heavier and bulkier. They were designed for NRA Service Rifle competition. There are mid-weight options also.

Don't like being hammered by the Cast Boolits Staff, then don't be a nail.
The rules are simple to follow.
Have a military issue M14 wood stock that was painted in a camouflage pattern. Unsure if done by a USGI armorer or later owner. Thing with M1a/M14s you don't just swap stocks, you don't even take stock off and back on too many times or bedding goes to crap. He does realize this is probably a gunsmith job to be done right, not just swapping a few screws? Have not considered selling, have several stocks which I buy as spares but become excuses to build more rifles but is this something like he is looking for or does he want presentation grade wood which can be found at many stock seller stores?

Gentlemen, I knew this was the place to come and find resources for this stock. Thanks for all your time and efforts spent informing and helping us. We have found a stock for him. Thanks.
