I have the Vortex Diamondback tactical 4x12x40 on my 6.5.
    Pretty nice scope.

If you can find a Nikon 3x9 or 4x12 those are real nice. I hear the Vortex are good also and they are still making them.

Intended purpose for the rifle? Hunting/plinking/long range target…etc…

Long range target/plinking will be the most likely uses

I have a Vortex Strike Eagle FFP 5-25x56 mounted on my 6.5 Creedmoor. It is much better than the Viper and I’ve shot at 440 yards with plenty of scope left. Send me a pm and I can share the price.

I put a Burris E1 6.5-20 X 50 on my Savage 110 Heavy Barrel 'Tactical' (sorry about that) 6.5 Creedmoor. For shooting long range and just shooting at the range it works well. Too heavy a setup to carry cross country. $242 on Amazon, I have multiple Burris scopes, except for weight they are as good or better than Leupold, warranty works the same. Their Fullfield II or E1 also comes in 4.5-14 x 42, I have a couple of those for load development and then as backup scope on hunting rifles.

That price is fantastic, not wanting to break the bank for sure!! this may fit perfectly.
