Restored an early 1873 Winchester

I bought this one in southwestern Arizona for very short money (as far as 73’s go):

Gunshop I bought it from was convinced that it was a relic and not in firing condition and sold it “as is” as a “wall hanger” only.

I took it apart soaked it for a few days )it was dusty with rust), got everything loosened up (mag tube, follower and spring were rusted in place) and working properly and tried to clean the bore up as much as possible (it is quite rotten) and had it shooting in less than a week.



The shop I bought it from was shocked when the saw I was shooting it, they were convinced it was trashed.

I never get that lucky. The shops around here would have tried to sell that thing for mint condition price.
