Could you all give me a starting point for subsonic .308 Win. rounds, jacketed and cast, all replies appreciated. I am helping a friend and I have no experience in subs for this caliber.

Google - hodgdon subsonic load data
Note the PSI of Trail Boss on Hodgdon data. 30,000 PSI
Thanks a bunch.
What is the purpose of this subsonic load you are seeking? Do you want 600 fps or 1100fps? Deadly varmits or beer cans?

I use the .30-30 data for my .308. Comes out really close and accuracy between the different loads and powder is also about the same (or maybe a little better in the bolt .308).
It has depended on the barrel for me. One of my 308's doesn't like subsonic at all while another rifle (a 16-1/4" barrel carbine) loves the big boolits at sub-sonic. Both have the same twist, but different makes and barrel lengths. You just have to experiment.
Reddot & 200 grs boolit
Will get you there in bolt action no problems with good accuracy
Another option would be trailboss
cast and jacketed bullets --- somebody else already asked why so my remark is that is dangerous for jacketed as you might get one stuck.
Whatever!
For sub sonic I use 5 grs of Bullseye with cast bullets, either 120 gr or 173 gr, in 30/40 and 30/06. The 120 gr loads have basically no recoil and low report and are accurate to 50 yards, also cheaper on alloy.
