Powder coated jacketed bullets at 2500 fps??

    I have a 280 Ross rifle with a .287-.288" bore.
Woodleigh bullets would have been my choice, but then there was the fire and production halted.
Plan B is to powder coat .284" diameter bullets to result in .288" bullets to use in this rifle.
Two powder coat cycles and that was achieved.
I'm wondering how fast I can shoot these bullet. A 175 gr. at 2500 fps is easily achievable with the rifle.
Will the coating hold up or will it start depositing in the bore at velocities at or near 2500 fps.
Would moly coating the bullets be a method of mitigation if deposits are likely?

Your experiences would be most welcome.

I have been experimenting with high velocity powder coated boolits for over 2 years now and have had some amazing success (as well as failures). The secret is to match the boolit to the rate of twist e.g. in a 223 1:12" twist shoots well @2,700 but the same load in a Ruger Ranch (1:8" twist) was an utter disaster. The 243 with 90gn powder coated attained 3,080fps (RHS) while the 7mm Mauser will push a 145gn boolit to 2,500fps with good accuracy. Even the 7.62x39 can be loaded with 190gn boolits and full power loads (2178fps)

I have found much the same in testing. using slower twists for powder coated lead verses the std twists for jacketed bullets you can get real close to jacketed velocities . and sometimes even exceed them
