Tried A New (to me) Potato Recipe, Simple & Delicious!

This turned up on my FB page and there was a photo of smashed potatoes! They looked irresistible and they delivered as good as they looked in the photo.

You use a small potato with skin on, boil it or nuke it until it's ~almost~ fork tender (1min 20sec each side for two potatoes) place the potatoes on a plate or cutting board, and smash slowly and evenly with a pot, plate, saucer, etc, until the potato breaks the skin and collapses to about 5/8" to 3/4" thick, butter the skin both sides then add salt, pepper, rosemary/garlic seasoning, everything bagel seasoning, whatever you like, grill on a hot oiled iron griddle until browned and crispy.

The recipe is for the taters but it cooked the steak perfectly too!

Edit to add this recipe was adapted from the original recipe found here, along with 19 other AWESOME ways to make potatoes!

    https://www.rockrecipes.com/smash-roasted-potatoes/

Noticing the URL, this is from Newfoundland, where Cod and potatoes were a mainstay for centuries, so you can expect some Newfie recipes make the most out of those two food groups that they can.

There is no problem so great, that it cannot be solved by the proper application of high explosives.

I've done this, they're great. I forgot all about this method. you can do the same thing on a sheet pan at 450 if you have a lot of taters. Drizzle'em with olive oil them bake.
