    Marlin and Winchester lever actions

I will share pictures of a Winchester lever action 9422M 22 WMR and a Marlin 39A 22 LR.

I am enjoying shooting and comparing them, now that I have them, side by side.

They handle great and shoot flawlessly. Both have actions that are smooth with the 9422M probably the smoothest. But both are great shooters.

They are both made in the same year. The Winchester had not been given enough love. That has changed.

Both very pretty. Thanks for sharing. I love my rimfires. My only 22 currently is a beater model 60 I’ve had 6 years now or so.

I was given a Marlin model 39 when I was 7 years old - I’m 63 now and it still shoots better than I can hold. Need to decide which grandson gets it.

found some 22 wmr ammo for the winchester

I found 2 CCI Varmint packs of 125 rounds each in Walmart over the weekend. I bought them. They were about $27.50 before tax. It has been long since I saw 22 wmr there.

FYI, I've been getting 22 mag and LR ammo right from CCI directly, shipped to my house.

I think the 39 is the better rifle personally. I too have bought directly from CCI. Prices weren’t too bad and it was available. SV 22 isn’t easy to find in town.

CCI direct isn't as cheap as Walmart. If you don't have to drive more than 5 miles, and know when to look.

pworley1, my pick as best rifle, by a hair, is the Winchester.

It is a little smoother in working the action and smaller here and there making it a little easier handling for me.

They are both keepers for me.
    Thanks

    Nice looking pair of levers.
Never own either, but would love to own a 9422 some day.

I agree, with a slight caveat. If you have a 336A, (or maybe a long barreled Model 94 or 64 Winchester) the Model 39A makes a better understudy for it.

I have owned both a 39A and a 9422XTR (in .22 LR) about fifteen years apart. The 1950's Marlin was slightly more accurate, but I did have a scope on it. The Winchester was slicker to operate, not Ithaca model 72 or Henry slick, but it was easier.
