This is an easy conversion. Lubricate the case, resize in 8x57 die, trim and anneal. Fire forming helps but is not essential.

You can use a tubing cutter to make a rough trim, followed by finish trim with whatever case trimmer you have or like.

I have and use Wilson, Redding and Lee case trimmers. Like the Wilson best. Have used this process to make 7x57, 7.65x53, 7.7x58, 8x57 and 308 Winchester from 30/06 and 270 brass.

Check your necks. I made a bunch of 9.3x57 from 30-06 without problem except one case that had an obviously thick neck. I tossed that one.

    RCBS trim die.
I use Federal brass specifically. Reserved for 7.92x57.
If the headstamp is federal, they are formed for the Mauser.

Might be prudent to mark somehow if the headstamp says "30-06", and there's a chance of someone besides you using the finished ammo: 8x57 can chamber in a 30-06, but if it's fired in an '06, it could make for a Very Bad Day.
This is why I always use military brass when resizing 30-06 to something else; there's no cartridge designation on the head stamp.

Taper expand to 325-330 dia. Remove expander from 8x57 die and run it. Trim to 2.25 then run back into the F/L die with expander. Worked well for me. Just loaded a light target load with Red Dot and let fly. If 30-06 brass was hard to get i'd anneal. As paul exward said, ive also just lubed and resized. Worked but split a few, no anneal.

My book says 270 brass can also be used but i have not tried it
