Depends upon just which 230 LRN you're talking about as regards proper overall length.
Some have a 1 radius ogive and cannot be seated longer than about 1.220." This is a nonstandard length. Any longer engages the leade and the round won't chamber fully.
The 2 radius ogive bullets like the Lee 230 2R or similar can be seated to about 1.265" which is standard length for ball ammo and how the ACP was meant to run in the 1911. Not saying you can't or won't shoot at a different length, but this is about duplicating standard specs. The ones mentioned are it.
load up some dummies, and hand cycle them...then move on to loaded rounds....its what works in your gun....
a shorter round that cycle well, uses less powder to get to a desired velocity.
try to keep the full bullet dia just a tad longer than the case.

only accurate rifles are interesting
