Using a .223 case for .308 bullets a different way

Someone has probably thought of this but here goes; how about cutting the neck off of the .223 brass leaving the shoulder on. then cut the base off leaving a brass tube with the shoulder still connected. Then anneal. after annealing, push into a die that you custom made to flatten the shoulder area into a basic jacket. The area where the point would be formed would be would have a thick case wall. could this work? I'm sure it would take some work.
Has anyone tried this?

Cut 223 can definitely be converted to jackets. More effectively to .338 since it's in the .37x" range I believe, but you can definitely draw it down further since it would be run through a couple draws anyway to get to the .338 jacket realm

I suspect that it would result in a bullet that is too long and heavy to stabilize, unless you're talking about shooting an empty .223 case out of a .308.

Yes, like that. The last example in the photo, "base of pistol bullet". The shoulder of the .223 case is the bottom of the pistol bullet.
